Microsoft Launcher to get a bucketload of new features
« on: June 24, 2019, 12:31:05 AM »

As developers keep adding new features and improvements via regular updates, Microsoft's Android launcher is becoming better and better. The upcoming update promises to further enhance user experience thanks to a number of important new options and abilities added.

For the time being, these improvements are being tested in the beta channel, so if you have Microsoft Launcher beta installed, you can already get a taste of what's to come. Otherwise, read further if you want to learn more about what to expect from the next version of Microsoft Launcher.

Firstly, you'll be getting notification badges for calling and messaging apps without setting the app as your default assistant. However, if you want more accurate badges, you do have to set Microsoft Launcher as your default assistant, it's your choice.

It appears that Microsoft has decided to bring back the hidden dock. Keep in mind that even if you set the dock to be hidden, you'll still be able to access apps and widgets installed on your phone.

Furthermore, the update adds the so-called Adaptive Icons, which means you'll be able to have the same look for your app icons with multiple shape choices.

Last but not least, a couple of other improvements have been added as well, such as faster task card syncing for MSA and work or school accounts, along with experience adjustments for accessing shortcuts when the home screen is locked.

All of the above changes are part of the latest Microsoft Launcher beta update that has already been released in the Google Play Store. You can either try them out by downloading the beta version of the app, or wait for them to arrive in the stable channel in the next few weeks.
