Tidal update android app with Masters audio quality features

Tidal quietly updated its Android app and while the new version doesn't come with any new features, it adds a very important functionality that will make HiFi subscribers. Masters streaming is something that only a limited number of Tidal subscribers were able to experience until now.

However, the latest update makes Masters streaming available to everyone with an Android smartphone and a HiFi subscription. Previously limited to select LG devices and the Essential Phone, Masters streaming should be available to all Android phones with the new version of Tidal app.

Masters streaming offers a higher level of audio quality, even better than HiFi. It offers a standard 96 kHz / 24 bit resolution, double the value of the HiFi audio, which is limited to 44.1 kHz / 16 bit resolution.

In order to obtain higher audio quality, Tidal has partnered with MQA (Master Quality Authenticated), but not all tracks offer this level of sound quality. Still, Tidal says that HiFi users will be able to access more than 150,000 master-quality tracks with their Android phones, so make sure to update to the latest version of the app to benefit from the upgrade.
