first Nokia phone with hole-punch screen and 48MP camera to be revealed soon

HMD Global, the company that manages the Nokia smartphone brand, has done a good job staying in the news with innovative devices for just about all price tiers. The Finnish company was among the first to embrace the notch, and it looks like it will also be among the first to adopt the hole-punch screen design feature.

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S10, the unannounced Nokia X71 will feature a punch hole selfie camera in the display. HMD Global confirmed the Nokia X71 will be officially unveiled on April 2 in Taiwan, Sogi (translated) reports.

The Nokia X71 will also be the HMD's first smartphone to boast an impressive 48-megapixel rear-facing camera with ZEISS optics. The phone will include a triple-camera setup and along with the 48MP sensor, Nokia X71 will also pack a secondary 120-degree super wide-angle shooter, as well as a third sensor of which purpose we have yet to learn.

Although the Nokia X71 will be launched in Taiwan next week, we're quite certain it will make its international debut soon afterward, but under a different moniker: Nokia 8.1 Plus. The first renders of the Nokia 8.1 Plus leaked not long ago courtesy to @OnLeaks suggest that the international version of the Nokia X71 will come with a dual-camera instead.

However, both will include the same 6.22-inch display with a punch hole selfie camera and a massive 48-megapixel main snapper. We'll know more about pricing and availability early next week when HMD plans to reveal the Nokia X71, but we do expect the international model to come later at a slightly higher price.
